The Planet of the Dead
California is not dreaming.
She’s sleeping.
As we now see the entire America is.
As Russia, China, France,
And most of other great nations are.
What do we say of those who sleep and never wake up?
We say they’re dead.
I know they won’t agree —
The dreams they’re watching look so real.
But what does it change for the rest of us, looking at them sleeping?
Turn off the TV and look around.
Isn’t it a planet of the dead?
